Artist Statement

The son of two artists, I have been immersed in art all of my life. Although I enjoy all artistic media, I gravitated towards sculpture as my artistic focus in my late teen years. I received a B.F.A. in sculpture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. It was there that I was first given the opportunity to work in a foundry and cast my own bronze work. This would remain my primary sculptural medium while at UWM. Though I have not abandoned bronze entirely, I have moved away from exclusively producing bronze pieces to hone my fabricating skills and create large-scale steel sculptures. The majority of my current work can be categorized as abstract expressionism with industrial overtones. My artwork also reflects minimalist, Cubist, and De Stijl approaches to monumental sculpture. Currently, I find myself creating a wide variety of pieces that I hope everyone who views my body of work can identify with. Above all, I strive to combine industrial and organic forms to create a unique sculptural landscape.
