Over the years, the Guild Sourcebooks have become our main promotional effort. We have never experienced a flood of work, and at times have been discouraged by slower periods. However, at critical points in our careers, an interesting opportunity to create new work would come along. The Guild has sustained us, challenged us, and given us access to extraordinary opportunities. In 1995, Mack Thames of Contract Art contacted us about a commission for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. He had seen our work in the Guild Sourcebooks over the years and finally had a project for us. We completed Diadem in conjunction with the architect and an art consultant from London Contemporary Art. It was a very demanding project that included hiring engineers, contracting fabricators, and working with composites. We survived the project in good grace, prepared to take on other large projects.
